Your generosity will sponsor a child in this life changing program!

Please join Positive Legacy and the Oracabessa Foundation to bring the 36 week Two Wheels, One Love program to 200 children from 5 schools in Saint Mary, Jamaica. This project is presented in loving memory of Woody Zalman.

Jamaica is a land of contrast and contradiction. On one hand, it is the idyllic island paradise. Pristine beaches, clear blue water, warm and hospitable people who have a relaxed relationship with time. This is the version of Jamaica that draws millions of tourists and ranks Jamaica 11th in the latest Happy Planet Index.

On the other hand, there is the Jamaica crushed by debt, poverty, unemployment and gang violence. In 2015, there were 1,192 murders (45 per 100,000 persons) placing it sixth on the World Bank's list of the most violent places on earth.

The Two Wheels, One Love (TWOL) program has two main objectives:

  • Teaching children how to safely ride a bicycle, and
  • Teaching children the value of cooperation, communication, love and forgiveness.

While many activities bring together youth from various parts of the community, they tend to dissolve into rivalry. The TWOL program creates a "safe haven" where program organizers use the growing interest in BMX biking as a portal to much broader lessons for area youth.

To meet these objectives, the TWOL curriculum provides a powerful intervention by teaching bicycle riding and racing combined with vital life skills. Imagine bringing 200 children from 5 schools together to learn and grow side by side, when otherwise they would be seen as rivals?

This program has the power to change lives and create a more peaceful Jamaica. For every $75 raised, one child will receive a scholarship for Two Wheels, One Love. Please make a donation today to transform a life!

You can also go the extra step and become a fundraiser for Two Wheels, One Love!

We are in need of fundraisers to rally friends, family, and networks to support this work. By becoming a fundraiser for Positive Legacy, you will help Two Wheels One Love, and your friends feel good about doing good!

Becoming a fundraiser is easy to do, and it's fun. We'll even give you all the tools you'll need to get set up. With your help, we can transform the lives of 200 children!

ABOUT THE FOUNDATION:

The Oracabessa Foundation, founded by legend Chris Blackwell of Island Records, is channeling the enthusiasm for cycling into the community program called Two Wheels, One Love. This is a coaching program for BMX biking, that was built on the spirit of peace and sharing to develop the first BMX program in Jamaica, integrates awareness of respect, responsibility, love and forgiveness with the teaching of this new sport.

This project was developed in honor of Woody Zalman. There aren't too many people in life you come across that you immediately fall in love with and can never forget. Woody was one of those people. Tragically, Woody was taken from us in a car accident after returning to the east coast from his 4th Jam Cruise in early 2016. Although his physical presence will no longer be with us, Woody's memory will always live in our hearts and through Two Wheels, One Love!
