Great opportunity to get involved... you don't have to attend an event to make a difference!

Have you participated in a Positive Legacy Day of Service? Are you not attending a Cloud 9 event this season but still want to get involved? Read on to learn more about how YOU can make an impact!

Food insecurity is devastating Mexico, and the pandemic has only exacerbated this inequity. Even before locals were urged to stay home to avoid COVID-19, 52% of all persons in the Yucatán Peninsula were already living in poverty with half of that group considered to be extremely poor and surviving on $1 per day. Needless to say, our friends at the resorts have been greatly affected. The Mexican government does not provide assistance such as national unemployment benefits, so today crime is on the rise as people fight to feed their families. One local newspaper even reported out of work residents selling off everyday goods in return for a meal, including a woman compelled to offer her shoes in exchange for food.

Erica from the Tulum Food Bank shares, "Supporting families in need of food is and has been needed in Tulum in all circumstances, not just through Covid. Tulum is one of, if not the most expensive place in Mexico, and incomes are very, very low. This creates a very precarious situation... and needs can change drastically for a family very quickly. With one injury, illness, death, home repair, etc."

The staff at the Hard Rock Hotel, Now Sapphire & Dreams are always willing and ready to help their guests with anything at anytime. Now it's our turn to show them some love and give back to those who have shared their home country with us for the past decade.

Positive Legacy is thrilled to announce that our 2021-2022 event season fundraising efforts and Day of Service will focus on keeping our friends from the resorts fed. You can make an impact by donating $20 to cover the cost of food and supplies needed for a family of four. When you sponsor a box, your name will be signed on a card and attached to the box. With the support of the Tulum Food Bank and RCD Fundación, boxes will be distributed to the nearby resort communities. Our goal is to assemble and distribute over 2,000 food and supply boxes over the course of the season.

If you're interested in participating in the Day of Service, stay tuned for more event specific information!

Together, we can make sure our friends in Mexico are fed!
