Closer to the Sun 2026 Day of Service and Community Action

We have planned an action packed day of discovery, cultural connections, service work, musical celebrations and local cuisine!

This year we will be going to José Antonio Tzuc Esparza Jr High School in Puerto Aventuras only 15 mins from the resort. The school currently has 600 students and is excited to have our help in making it a better place for the students to learn.

This will be the 1st time Positive Legacy has supported this school with development grants and our “Day of Service” volunteer labor. Special thanks to the help from the RCD Foundation and their amazing team who have helped to curate this incredible experience. It is through their network and support, we are able to go into the schools that need our help the most and make their spaces a bit brighter while bringing supplies and a musical celebration.

During the Day of Service on Monday January 12th, we will take approximately 50 of the Closer To The Sun guests who choose to join us, to reinvigorate the buildings, classrooms and exterior of the school with fresh paint and build a recycled plastic bench. We will also be delivering the school supplies & backpacks that the Closer fans have donated. After we put in a bit of work we will be treated to the live music of the local band Galactica Deep Roots. We will also have an authentic Mexican lunch and drinks while you enjoy the live music and chat with your new local friends.

We will board the bus back by 1:45 in order to get to the resort by 2pm in time for everyone to make it to the 2:30 Heaven Beach shows and time to refresh before another amazing evening of music!

Activities for the day will include:

• Classroom & School painting prep

• Classroom painting

• Painting exterior walls

• Recycled plastic bench building

• Landscaping & grounds cleanup

• Lunch & live local music

Ticket Cost:

$100 in advance

$125 at the resort (if available)

*The revenue from ticket sales help to offset the costs associated with the Day of Service, including supplies and materials, transportation, food, payments for local cooks and musicians, sponsoring less fortunate kids and families to celebrate with us, etc.
