Join Positive Legacy and the Conscious Cruiser Program for a Day of Service & Celebration when Jam Cruise visits the beautiful Caribbean Sea coast region of Costa Maya, Mexico. We will partner with a local non-profit organization, Menos Plastico es Fantastico, for a beach clean up and a community celebration in the village of Mahahual with Jam Cruise artists TBA.

Menos Plastico’s mission is to make their community aware of the negative impact that our consumer consumption of single use plastics has in Mahahual and our oceans worldwide. They hope to eliminate single use plastics in their community over the next 5 years. Positive Legacy is providing grant funding for Menos Platisco to employ community members to conduct weekly beach clean ups throughout the region for one year. This is vital as sea turtles arrive each year to lay eggs on their birth grounds. The plastic debris must be cleaned up before it becomes “micro plastic” which is consumed by birds, crustaceans, turtles, and eventually enters the human food chain. Recent studies show that virtually every person on the planet has plastic traces in their blood due to micro plastics.

Our goal for the January 10th Day of Service is to clear half a ton of beach rubbish near Kilometer 14 known as Puerto Angel. This location is especially important to clean as sea turtles go there every year to lay their eggs. After the beach clean up we will enjoy a community celebration, lunch and a music jam at the Nacional Beach Club in Mahahual. This event will be sustainable with reusable plates and utensils, and there will be a water refill station so please bring your own bottle and think about your impact on the environment!
