Day of Service & Sustainable Experience

Join Positive Legacy at Secundaria Técnica No. 7 “Primero de Junio,” one of Puerto Morelos’ oldest schools, for a meaningful day of service, conservation, and community!

This beautiful beachside school is one of the oldest schools in Puerto Morelos. For more than 50 years, this secondary school has been providing local students with knowledge and skills related to the sea. From its beginnings as a fishing technical school in the 1970s–1990s to today’s broader range of educational programs, the school continues to prepare young people for their futures.

Over the years, the school has helped develop scuba instructors, marine biologists, and other professionals becoming future stewards of the region’s beautiful marine and coastal environments.

After many years of limited maintenance, the beachside school is in dire need of some attention. This year’s grant will provide for the professional repainting of the school’s entire exterior, as well as a much-needed shaded outdoor lunch area with new tables and chairs.

Working alongside the RCD Foundation and with your hard work, we will provide the finishing touches to this major facelift. We plan to paint additional areas and create a mural, clean the beach and school grounds, and plant native sea grape plants to help prevent further beach

Activities for the Day

  • Paint classrooms and school spaces
  • Create a community mural
  • Clean the beach and school grounds
  • Plant native sea grape plants
  • Remove invasive plants
  • Assist with landscaping and conservation
  • Participate in educational workshops
  • Enjoy live local music
  • Share an authentic Mexican lunch
  • Swim and enjoy free time
  • Optional guided snorkeling tour of the reef

After completing the morning’s service projects, we’ll relax to the rhythms of local musicians while enjoying an authentic Mexican lunch.

For those who would like to explore the reef, we will also offer a snorkeling tour led by local guides.

After lunch and the activities, enjoy free time for the rest of the afternoon. Swim in the beautiful Caribbean Sea, soak up the sun, or visit the artisan Mayan Market in Puerto Morelos to shop for local handicrafts before heading back to the resort for another evening of fantastic music.
